Registering for 'GENTLY DOWN THE SEYMOUR' 2010 |

If you are waiting to register your class for the 2010 season, remember, your class has to be participating in the 'Salmonids in the Classroom' program offered by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Those classes will be contacted through our program administrator who will be furnished with your contact information by way of your participation in Salmonids in the Classroom. Registrations will be on a first come-first serve basis and will be accepted by internet or fax only in 2010. |

'GENTLY DOWN THE SEYMOUR' DVD & VIDEO |

The Seymour Salmonid Society has a 32-minute DVD and video called ‘Gently Down the Seymour’. It chronicles a year in the life of the hatchery and uses a teacher-student, question-answer format. It covers in great detail the GDS course and the life cycle of salmon raised at the hatchery. You'll follow the salmon from the initial egg collecting, to incubation, to rearing, to releasing back into the river as smolts. Students will learn the importance of wise stewardship and how the Society is doing all they can to preserve the fish in the Seymour River. Many other activities are shown and explained giving the viewer an understanding of what is done and why it is so important.
