These students are doing a
stream survey. They
will take insect samples back to the classroom and
look at them under a microscope. They will also take
elevations of the stream and take note of what types of foliage
are present. Grade the different kinds
of gravel and identify which gravel is best for
salmon to make their
redds in.
These students are releasing
Coho
fry into the
Seymour River. This part of the course is always
exciting for the kids. A great sense of satisfaction
is felt as they are actively taking part in helping the
salmon start the next stage of their life cycle.
GDS is developing lasting friendships
between kids
and the environment.
