March 20, 2020

To our Members, Volunteers, and Friends of the Seymour Salmonid Society:

With the rapidly changing landscape around COVID-19, we want to reach out to express our determination and solidarity in the face of the challenges presented by this global health crisis.

We are all deeply concerned and want to ensure that we are reducing health risks and doing our part to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

As such, we have decided that a popular upcoming event, Gently Down the Seymour (GDS) scheduled for March 30- June 12, 2020 will be cancelled.

Visits to the Hatchery will be suspended until the health situation has stabilized, and our Health Authorities advise it will be safe to meet. And as a matter of protection to our Staff the hatchery gates will be closed to the public.

All fish releases and events will be not be open to the public in order to respect the Health Authorities social distancing policy. We will certainly continue public events once the Health Authorities give the okay to do so.

Additionally, it is highly probable that the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2020 may also need to be postponed

Please stay safe, we will get through this together.
